Anyone purchased a Kogan 19" LCD TV/DVD. Costs $449, seem to have all the right specs, & run directly from 12v (come with a 240v/12v transformer if you want to run from 240v).
No one at Kogan could tell me what the 12v tolerance was although they thought that up to say 13.8v would be ok (ie: i want to power from my AGM which when fully charged could be up around that voltage)

If you have one of these TVs i would be interested in your feedback

cheers ... Drew

Howdy Drew, we recently purchased a similar TV, Palsonic, & run it off a battery in our van. It came with a 12V cable in addition to the 240V lead. It was an optional extra, purchased from the retailer.
We were told by the retailer, Retravision, and advise from members on this site, that because we had the specified 12V lead there would be no issues with performance/warranty. I checked with Palsonic Technical Div. & they confirmed "No Worries"

Hi Drew
IF it came with a 12v lead then it should be ok .
The specs in the manual should give working voltage range ,if that is 14.5 or more then you should have NO worries.

I bought one of these about 6 months ago. Also has a built in HD set top box. Don't use it a lot but it has performed as good as anything else I have seen apart from sat tv. Travelles hanging on the bracket & seems hardy enough to take the rigours of van travel.
Cheers ..Don

We bought a 19" Palsonic a few months ago and the TV works fine. Good performance and value for the price.

We did have problems with the DVD player not working but have now settled for a good quality DVD player in a separate box. This is light and meets our needs.

Typically the tolerance is 11-16 Volts. That seems pretty much standard. I run a Dick Smith 12V TV (Non LCD) of my AGM's. This is in a big boat, funnilty enough the first thing to stop working when my voltage is low is the cd/radio. I have sinced upped my battery capacity and no issues, you can also have your chargers going at the same time.

Bear in mind when you buy one of these things warranty is crucial because they have everything built in, check for extended warranty options.? If the DVD player dies etc etc.

Also make sure the DVD player can play Div X movies, this is the only way to go when travelling, you can have 5-6 movies for example on one DVD.
