For those interested in stats.
We have just got back from a 4 week trip to the centre.
Brisbane,
Birdsville,
Marree, Alice, Altunga, Alice, Ayers Rock, Kings canyon, Alice, Tenant
Creek, Mt Isa,
Brisbane.
I have a 80 series non-turbo towing a camper trailer.
Trip - 9282 km - 5754
Miles
Fuel - 1412 litres - 310 gallons
Cost - $2783
Cheapest fuel -
Dalby 174.9
Dearest - Kings Canyon 240.0 - Mt Dare 235.0
Average price over trip - 200.53
Consumption - 6.57 km/litre or 15.21 l/100km or 18.52 mpg
Average trip cost was $299.87 per 1000km
A great value trip for two for 4 weeks

Thanks Alan for the stats. We did a similar trip about three years ago in the same time frame & found it a bit rushed, mind you in some of the areas you mentioned it is easy to cover a good few Ks
in a day. Glad you enjoyed yourself, the areas you visited are a great place of Oz. Cheers.

Good stats.
I am doing a trip to the cape and will do about the same K's as you. I have estimated the aproximate cost to be prety much where your stats are sitting.
15.21l/100 is realy good for your set up. Interesting when it is worked out even with the fuel prices as they are it is still good value to get away.
