Looking at LPG injecting latest model Turbo Diesel Prado, heard good things about the injection, but I would like to hear
feedback from ExplorOz members who have had it done to their vehicles. Good experiences & bad. Is there any storeis of motors destroying themselves or what ?
I heard that a 2007 Hilux got 32 extra Kw & fuel economy went from 550Km /tank to 800Km /tank - sounds good to me. I did hear that I would lose my factory engine warranty.
Love to hear your thoughts.

Hi Beddo. I own a Toyota V6 4Runner and last year in May decided the time had come to do an LPG conversion. After numerous enquiries I finally opted for the Direct Injection system ( the 4Runner is fuel injected ) as against the converntional method.
Despite a few teething problems and letting the system bed in, I have never looked back. I get up to 580 Km on a tankful of LPG compared to 350 Km on a tankful of Petrol. Fuel tanks is 67 Litres and LPG tank is 75 Litres. There is no noticeable difference what so ever between running on LPG and Petrol. Also have a good friend who has a 3.0 litre turbo diesel Surf which was converted to LPG about two months ago. Initially it was belching out lots of black sooty smoke, but now the exhaust emits no smoke at all. He is now getting almost double the mileage on the dual fuel system ( also direct injection ) fuel consumption has dropped from approx. 12L/100 Km to 9.5 L/100K and reckons it was the best move he made. Has had substantial gains in HP at the rear wheels after being tuned on the dyno. So talking from first hand experience I would heartily endorse the conversion on your vehicle. Cheers.
PS// Dont see why your should lose you vehicles warranty - think its a scare tactic by Toyota. Also got my $3000 Federal and State gocernment reabte back in three weeks. Total outlay for the Direct Injection - was $1200. Cheap at that price

I have a few facts from a Gas injection system called " eCo-shot Australia & a link aswell www.ecoshot.com.au they have some results like: TD5 Landrover from 12.5L / 100km to 8.11 / 100Km, 100 Series only got an extra 2Km / 100, nissan Patrol 15L / 100Km to 10.5Km / 100Km.
PS. Shouldn't the gov't be supporting Diesel use especially when you have a common rail diesel, its more eco freindly, diesel should be cheaper to encourage its use, rather than support all these eco unfriendly petrol vehicles.

They claim to be very reliable. There is reduced engine wear due to reduced soot in oil, and longer oil change intervals.
This is the one I went with

I suspect it will take forever to recoup the initial outlay, but increased power, torque, range, engine life, and reduced pollution are things that appeal anyway.

Bob, I found another site aswell in the Hunter "www.gastek.com.au" , their Sequence II system looks pretty good. Yeh it's expensive. My brothers heading around Oz & has spoken to lots of people running LPG in their diesels; I told him to fit it before he went ! little brothers don't listen.
Cheers Beddo
