Hi Derek,
We've had our Ultimate for just over 6 months now and we couldn't be happier with it.
It's built really
well, finished
well and the customer service from the Ultimate team is just wonderful.
Don't hesitate to contact us if you need anything further.
Cheers,
Jeannie

Hi Jeannie
Does the Ultimate have any 12 volt sockets in the boot area or are they all inside?
Cheers

Hi there,
Our Ultimate has 6 12v sockets - 4 internal and 2 external. Both the external are at the rear of the camper, which is
the entrance area, and area you spend most time. There are no sockets in the gull-wing boot, however, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to install some there.
Cheers,
Jeannie

Hi Derek
We have had one for six years. We tow it every where with ease and reliability. It is dust proof waterproof warm in winter cool in summer.
Well appointed and practical.
Cook inside when a gale is blowing outside. Short enough to go across the end of the garage. Plenty of storage space in lockable lockers. Easy to maintain and has quality canvas work. We are seniors and have no trouble setting up and packing down. Excellent resale value. We have had two Jaycos prior to our Ultimate and we could not be happier in reliability and ease in
camping. Koni shocks and lovells springs independent
suspension.Has a lounge to
seat four inside and has a room underneath. Three way fridge 55lt is set up to work efficiently with special attention to the way it is ventilated.
Ultimate have a good website.
Stan

Derek,
Ithink they are an excellent camper trailer and very
well built but there are two things that made me decide against getting one when I was deciding on a camper.
1. You have to open everything up to get to the kitchen.
2. You need a ladder to access the camper (not good for the old knees).
If that does not bother you and you can afford the high price I think it is a quality unit. For the record I decided on a Pioneer Argyle SE which Iam VERY happy with.

As for the price
Who else will buy back for 80% of the purchase price.
There are good and bad points to them all.
Wind up a jayco to get at the kitchen?
Can always get to the ulty fridge and we run a day box in the outside locker.
If you you want to get at the knife drawer 30secs. to lift the lid.
If the flies are as thick as thieves I will want to be inside at midday.

I echo what the other owners have said. We've had ours since Feb 1999 and it's been to
Cape York twice as
well as across the Simpson. (We should actually be out in the Simpson RIGHT NOW, but the Patrol's chassis sustained a crack and I've had to return home).
We love the Ulti'.......it's funny how the only people who "knock" them have never owned or used one!!!! hahaha
You do pay a premium for the high quality of fitout AND the strength. I would back the ulti' over just about any other brand camper I've seen out on the tracks.
I even know of an owner who rolled his camper when doing a "true" off-road section whilst traversing
the desert areas north of Poeppel's corner. The camper was rolled back onto it's
wheels and continued on unscathed.
If you can afford one, I'd say go for it.
NB: I have no affiliation etc etc....

"it's funny how the only people who "knock" them have never owned or used one!"
Roachie you may be right that the inability of many to afford an Ultimate often leads to knocking them (tall poppy) but one doesn't need to own one to see if it is suitable to their needs. The flip over design although relitively easy doesn't allow for the fitment of solar panels, bikes or a boat. As mentioned the kitchen access is poor for a lunch stop & of course the wet canvas folds in on the bedding.
Each camper has it's plus's & negatives making selecting one from the hundreds now available a nightmare. Who knows, some even choose light weight campers that don't overload the towing vehicle ;-) (Sorry, poor timing)
Cheers Craig............

Actually, Crackles, you CAN mount a boat on top of the Ulti, though it makes it rather tall. And before you fold it, you stack the bedding on top of the lounge so it doesnt get wet canvas on top of it. We are really happy with ours...

I own a KK, but I do like the Ultimate but.........
setup time ( you could live with that )
no external cooking facilities ( built in )
no sight thru the rear screen ..
But...nice space inside when setup
Relative lightweight
nicely finished

That's funny - we rented a KK for our ten week trip, and were envious of the Ultimate owners when it was p!ssing down rain and were able to
cook inside, and we were stuck inside with no cooking facilities.
Bed in the KK is also a tad short, it's not a true queen size in my opinion, and the Ultimate that we had a tour through had full size.
If we were to buy one or the other, I'd choose the Ultimate. For me the biggest factors are the inside kitchen and the weight savings - my understanding is that the Ultimate is about 750kg empty, and the KK is 1300kg empty (rough figures). We used a hell of a lot more fuel towing the KK than I estimated.
