The only problem is finding a supply of used vege oil. Most of the fish and chip shops seem to have a contract with other suppliers :(

I was chatting to a customer today about LNG and diesel processes. He said they use it o/s, and if we bought the technology then Australia could have the diesel/lng mix for around 50c a litre. Now just how accurate his figures are I have no idea. I'm no engineer, but it certainly sounded good to me.

I have a friend that does , unfortunalty its not enough - you need maybe 2 - 3 shops for a decent amount as most dont change oil for maybe 2-3 weeks, oil gets run through the system - that is new stuff is used for the chips -- the older stuff is send to the second deep frier and is used for dim sims - calamari and such - hence the 2 deep friers in most places ...

if you can find a suplier that changes weekly and the oil isnt to dark and has a good titration - then remember to keep them happy with gifts OR use the services often - ie hamburgers - chips and remember to leave the place clean ie no spills

There's a couple who are travelling around Aust in a troopy fuelled by used veggie oil and bio diesel.

A good idea, but if we all try it, the Govt will put a tax on used veggie oil!!

Here's their website:

Hmmm
We run a remote catering business and buy new vege/fry oil for about $23 for 20lt. I wonder how long it will be before Kev wakes up to this and my frying oil is dearer (only just, mind you) per litre than diesel??

Unfortunately, you can't cook chips in diesel!

A fella I bumped into one day at the local shopping center had his old girl running on the stuff. He chattered to me for about an hour or more about how quieter it ran, what good fuel economy he got, then he drove away and it smelt like a Chicko Roll. Made me hungry, don't know if I could put up with being hungry all the time.
