Just been giving some thought tonight about a couple of fellars I knew in Tassie (brothers). Both dead now I'd suspect. Damned if I can think of the name. Think it was Eric Prescott?
The older of the two lived in Cressy and had the starts of Parkinson's disease when I first met him. The son was a bit left of right in the mental department.
Any Tassie fella out there who can give me a local connection to call? I'd like to write about the history of this old man, either through poem or story to give him fair due.
We use to go up to Lake Sorell together in the high country and
camp at the northern end. He'd take an old van up there around August, then go we'd go off together shooting in the hills and fish for trout just about every weekend.
Leant more from that old fella than any schooling ever gave me. He taught me how to settle down a bit, and stop being a
young rat bag.
Regards
Kim

Suggest that the 'best
forum' for this type of enquiry might be something like Can We Help on ABC TV they have a larger audience and are truly 'national'

Kim I have got a couple of mates down their who may be able to put you in touch with somebody who knew this chap. One lives in
Perth and has a fishing tackle
shop so knows a lot of people.
I envy your fishing experiences down their. Did not get down their myself till 2001.
If this is of any use to you send me an email.
Cheers Pete

Pete
Thanks for that.
Couple of other things. Eric's brother (Monty) ran a Shell depot in
Launceston around 25 years ago.
Eric's van was the last before the fence in the
old camp site at the back end of Lake Sorell. He'd built a stone fire place at the edge of the
water, and dug out a ramp for the boat.
Know it sounds a bit strange, but I can't for the life of me remember his last name. Might have also been Prichard.
Eric was a quiet man and settled me down a lot. We talked a fair bit, but he never discussed his life. I could write about this old gentleman now, but would like to know something of his life before I do that.
If your mates could help it would be appreciated.
Regards
Kim
