Is there any real saving in it for the customer.
I currently have a new troopy on order (delivery in December) and have just been advised that Toyota are now including this model under their "Advantage Servicing Plan"........
The upshot of this is that they will service the vehicle for a period of 3 years or 60k for a fixed labour and parts price of $250/service
But there is more, they are now hitting me with an additional cost of $1900 on top of our negotiated purchase price as
well.
So when u break this down per service based on every 10k, your up for around $567/service. Now going on the service schedule of our '07 TD hilux, they don't do a great deal other than change oil and "tighten propeller shaft" so I'm guessing that the Troopy would not be a whole lot different.
I think that the only person who gains any "Advantage" out of this is Mr Toyota?????????????

"I think that the only person who gains any "Advantage" out of this is Mr Toyota?????????????" I think you are right. As you said they dont do much between the 0klms start and the 60k. BUT check, does the troopy still have live front end ?? This would require more on a service then the hilux. Do they do a repack of the hubs etc before the 60k as this is an expensive service ($1000 plus). 60 thou these days is less then the average klms done in 3 years. Its more likely the majority of people would do this in 2 years some maybe like yourself quicker. Im not sure when the fuel filter changes are due now on the new stuff. The oil filters are only around the $25 plus some oil, the rest will be check this check that $567 is alot for an oil change and a check. If it covered up to 120k then it would be possibly worth it. Also read the fine print more then likely some hidden charges especially on a 4wd. Regards Steve M

I do not know if this relevant to your situation or not but.... A friend of
mine works for a company that does servicing for a car lease firm. They have allocated a certain time for each service which is easy if you only do checks and do not actually have to 'service' anything. If they run over their allocated time to do a service and they are only halfway through the check list then they stop work on the vehicle at that point. Also, I know for a fact that they use cheap oil. When the lease cars are sold they are advertised as having been regularly serviced !

Beware Gas,
If you do not do many Km you should be aware. We have a Corolla under this plan and found as we do few Km in it we did not do the mileage but had it serviced at the 6 months (5000km) time frame (full $ charged).
When we went back for the 10 000km we found out that as we had payed top $ for the last service that the time frame was passed (6 months or 10 000km) and the offer no longer was valid for that service. So you need to make sure if you do small
miles and require a 6 month service that you only pay the shedule "ASP" and call it the 10 000 service or time will run out and you end up paying top $ anyway for all the
services.

We have just experienced with A Mazda BT 50 two dealer quotations of $450 - $500 for a 20,000 K service. We didn't go with either of them, instead stuck with a reliable licensed workshop, which is family operated business that we have been dealing with for quite a few years. Cost of the service in compliance with the Mazda Spec was $209.

Funny how that happens.
Did exactly the same with my Nissan Agent, after buying a brand new Navara .STR 3.0TD
$$$$Dear, and not very good,, me thinks they only changed oil..
Charge like wounded bull, did not fix turbo lag..asked twice no better,, went to private workshop, all fixed first time,, and done with pride..and can legally stamp book..
Never been back to a Dealer since..
Not know RRRRrrrr's from Elbow !
Cheers
Bucky

I've used the same private mechanic for years to carry out the scheduled servicing for a fraction of the cost as
well and would like to continue but the issue with this new Advantage Servicing plan is that it is not an option you can elect to pay for in the purchase price.....It is tacked on to the price of the vehicle fullstop....no choice.
So in my case, I have already donated over $300/10k service so do you elect to stick with the dealer and not really know what they are doing or stick with what u know and trust??????decisions, decisions
