Hi there
Does anyone out there know how many litres per 100KM a Landrover Discovery TD5 can expect to use towing a camper trailor around 600kilos around Austalia using mainly Sealed roads.
Any stats most welcome.
James

Hi James,
Towing my 16ft Viscount poptop (about 15-1600kg loaded) with my TD5 auto increases my fuel use from 10km/litre to around 6.5 -7km/litre, driving at or about the speed limit most of the time.
In theory, with a lighter load the increase should be around 2.5km/litre but other factors, hills, wind speed and direction and the size of the right boot will all have a bearing on the end result.
Hope this gives you a start point.
Disco.
PS. There are not many on here with much of an interest in Landrovers, so you may get answers like "Buy a Tojo or a Nissan"

Landrover????
Who makes that?
Nissan or Toyota??
He He:-)
I have TD5 and concur with the above figures. I may do a little better as my CT is about 1100kg fully loaded.
I agree with the last comment. If you had anything else you would be able to get the figure narrowed down to the millilitre increase on consumption per gram of extra weight loaded.
I am happy in my minority.

On a recent trip from Syd - Melb I returned 8.8 litres per 100KM fully loaded with NO trailer. Trick was keeping the speed around 95kph. The car is an auto with larger tyres, winch steel bar etc.
