doug,
Its mostly sealed except for a few causeways between premer and purlewaugh. but apart from that is a fairyly reasonable road, can be a little rough after wet weather though.

I found it a good quiet country road across the Liverpool plains to Premer. It is sealed to Premer. Just west of
the Black Stump Way (west of Premer) there is an unsealed section for about 10 km, with smooth surface and easy driving.
An enjoyable drive for us.

Doog, I do this road often, it is a rural road, narrow in a lot of sections, and mostly only local farming traffic, with the occasional truck, lots of causeways (dips in the road). A couple of dirt sections at the Coona end. Don't exceed the speed limit, in fact stay under it, and enjoy the plains, and you will be fine. Mostly a drive through very rich pastoral country, with a couple of feeder lots along the way. The alternative is to go via Gunnedah, better road, but much the same country.
Fred.

Thank you everybody for your replies,
The only reason I was concerned about the roads condition ,my FJR1300 road bike needs a run and I thought I might leave my
Patrol behind this time.
Cheers,
Doog .
