My 2006 Patrol is very close to needing new tyres(275/65/17).I have priced B,stone Duelers 694@ $350 fitted,Maxis AT @$255 fitted.I have done just on 80,000 km.on the original B,stones & I am wondering what sort of mileage to expect out of the Maxis AT tyres.I feel that the B,stones may work out better on a cost per Km. basis.
Any opinion would be appreciated.

I have looked at this forum before for information about the Maxxis tyre. Thread 58133 is a good read, nothing but positive comments.
I am surprised at the price. I priced 265/70/16 Brave 175 tyres and got $185, so $255 , even for the bigger ones seems a bit on the high price.
Wish you could try tyres and if not suitable send them back!

Have put Maxxis tyres on my Adventra. So far have done almost 30000 kms but needing replacement soon. original equipment were Bridgestone Turanza at twice the price. I got the same mileage from the Bridgestones. Summary - Maxxis better value for money tyre. Very quiet on the road and good grip on gravel. I'd buy them again.

Hi Rifleman,

I am about to put a set of Maxxis on my 80 series.

It has a set on currently and when I bought it about 18 months ago they were worn down and the guy I bought the car off said I would need to get tyres in the not too distant future - 18 months and 36000 km ago!

I recon that thesestyres would have lasted about 80000 to 90000 km from new.

I am only making an educated guess here but that's my observation and guesstamation.

275 /R70 16 694 = $285 best price I could get

Maxxis Bravo 275 /R70 16 =$199 fitted and balanced.

I have had one puncture since purchase, a pin clip which is used on a tractor linkage went through the centre of the tread and I had it repaired. I travel 50k every day to work and back and 20 of that would be gravel road in varying states of condition and surface.

I think they will do me.

Regards,
Gazal.

Just looking again at those prices you quoted there Rifleman and might I humbly suggest you put the thumb screws on those suppliers for a better price.

Drive a hard bargain.

I only had to work on the Bridgestone guy but the guys at Bob Jane Coffs Harbour gave me that price without hesitation.

Thanks Gazal Champion, the price difference between 16 & 17 inch tyres in various brands seems to be about the $80 to $100 mark.
I will be in Coffs Harbour on Friday so will call at Bob Jane as you suggested. Thanks to all

I have Maxxia Buckshot Mudders 32" on the Rodeo and they were $1000 with new Sunrasia Rims.

They have done 30 000km and they are fantastic for a mudder. Wearing reasonable and only a little noisy on road. Grip is fantastic and unbelievable on road in the wet!!!!!

I had Fedral Dueller 351's (31 10.5R15 LT) before and got 130 000km on all types of terrain and towing camper trailer around Aust...they were $100 each..the best value ever! The tyres wore well and gripped on and off road very well.

Good luck
Matt.

In the USA Maxxis are big in racing tyres. But their 4WD tyres have a similar milage warranty as Coopers. Dont think warranty applies in Aus tho'.Check out their US website.

Just watch the load rating though. Some sizes are lower rated than other brands
