I have a 100 series IFS Landcruiser. I replaced the original
suspension straight away to Old Man Emu with Separate Canister Nitro Shocks and polybags. My issue is while doing the
Border Track, the bag of the car was very bouncy. I reduced the poly bags to the most minimal pressure, and it reduced the bounce. My thoughts now (after many a chat about it), is to remove the polybags and replace
the springs with TJM heavy duty springs + 250kg springs. Just want to get people thoughts to whether this is the best action to take.
I have a fair bit of weight on the back: ARB rear bar (dual wheel), roller draws,
water tank, long range tank etc etc.
Any opinions of peoples experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou

Get rid of the Poly bags if you want to go off the Bitumen. Put on what ever
suspension you want.

Bouncing rear end usually means shocks are not up to it. Have to admit I followed a 100series on the
Madigan Line that also had the Old Man Emu remote canister shocks and he was bouncing a heap. He was also heavily loaded on the rear, but I did wonder about whether those very expensive shocks were any good. I'd ask ARB their opinion.

I suggest your OME shocks are not valved to suit the additional spring rate of the air bags or the weight you are carrying. Speak with ARB to check their suitability as if not right I believe the remote canister shocks have the ability to be revalved. I doubt fitting heavier springs to replace the airbags will do anything to improve the bouncing.
Reptuable
suspension installers will ask you for the weight you carry, assesories fitted & expected driving conditions before recomending a matched system. At an ARB factory tour on Saturday the guide said they tested over 190 valve combinations on one model Prado alone before choosing so mixing & matching springs & shocks yourself is just guess work & unlikely to succeed.
I have a 105 Cruiser with med springs & Polyairs which suffered a little from rear end bounce. I tamed it somewhat by revalving my Koni shocks but with so much weight back there one needs to be realistic at how much improvement can be made.

The origonal shocks are very good on this model and hard to beat with after market and at around $250 for four unbeatable at the price I tried Bilstiens but no real improvement for 4 times the cost. Shocks are a disposable item like tires and are affordable to replace. I run heavy kings springs on the back 50mm lift and have wound up torsion bars to suit car handles very
well on and off road
run 38lb on road 28lb offroad on BFGs Also had Fulcrum replace steering rack bushes for a marked improvement Cheers Rob

I was wondering how the original shocks go with a 50 mm lift.
Thought they may be too short.
