2nd trip down CSR

Did the 1st in 1992 (had a 1985 Pajero 2.6 superwagon then ) now allowing myself to be talked into a second , apart from more traffic and a few more wells redone (and more corrugations I bet)-woner what else will be different .This time my GU 2006 ute & other vehicle a 2007 Patrol ST.

You could always do the CSR from the other direction.

We have come down the CSR twice, with 4 years between trips, and it was still very enjoyable, the second time included Rudall River and the Calvert Range.

I don't know if I would go again, even though I've been asked by friends to take them next time.

You'll find a big difference in the cost :) Plus the fuel dump is no l;longer serviced, so don't bypass the settlement at Well33. That probably hasn't changed much. The track across to Alice Springs is now much easier.
Biggest change is probably the permit system I'd guess.

Sadly, I think you would find less firewood, and that people actually cut down trees and shrubs around the populat campsites, leaving less shelter from wind and less shade

I suspect as you said you will find more corrugations, and also more 'holes' created at the approach of dunes due to wrong tire pressures and people switching to 2wd in an ill informed opinion that it saves fuel
