Mine is an autron, steering wheel mounted and have had no prbs with it. I think it was around $400 fitted about 4 years ago.

Autron are widely regarded as the best aftermarket cruise on the market.
They are not the cheapest but this is certainly one instance where the saying "you get what you pay for" rings true

Have used the AP50/60 in the past and dont see what the extra expense of the Autron get's you.

Had a Autron fitted 4 years ago to our Troopy and really pleased with it. It is even better than the standard one fitted to our Rangie.
I have heard that the cheaper ones do not last the distance and seen them fall to pieces on other peoples vehicles.
The Autron was not cheap but I would certainly buy one again. From memory it was about $700 fitted - that fitting took nearly 3 hours by a professional.

Not sure if it is relevant to your situation, but make sure it is an electronic controlled cruise.
I had a vacuum operated set up fitted to my '05 petrol Hilux by Toyota when I purchased the vehicle and imo the cruise control that was fitted is a worthless piece of junk. Will not hold speed even on a flat piece of road, surges up and down and cuts out at the slightest hint of an incline.
It was'nt that expensive if I remember rightley....can see why.

Hiya Pickles
The Autron is a fine unit,My one is attached to the back of the accelerator (of course lol) and then through the ECU on the Hilux...
I thought the engine may labor on a steep
hill being Diesel and it would hav to be a mighty one at that...Also they can change settings too like if you want to change gears without the Cruise disconnecting that can be done too..
Cheers
