Hi all, recently ordered a Uniden UH013 ($225) but just received parcel opened it up and they sent a Uniden UH400SX. Had little note saying free upgrade, can anyone tell me if i got a good deal or is the UH013 better? I really dont know much cbout them but i know i need one just to communicate with friends when travelling in convoy and for overtaking Road Trains and stuff.

Anyone be able to enlighten me?

The UH013 has a remote head (which means u can mount the power pack basically anywhere in your vehicle) and mount the small detachable head to a nice tight fitting area if you wish. The 400sx is a fixed (normal) unit. I think the UH013 is not made anymore and has been replaced by newer models (UH015), the 400sx is a newer model but not the equivalent in regards to it physical aspects. The power etc is the same, 400sx has dual watch (which means u can watch activity on two channels at once). The UH013 has a scanning feature which means you can listen to fire, police (if not in Vic), ambos etc

If you were after a 'remote head' then I would think you were dudded but if not then I think its ok.

Have a look here

Hey Kroozer,
The new one looks ok but looking at the RRP than they are making a very nice profit......
I have fitted at least 15 to machines and trucks that are 24v and 12v in the last 5 months. I have 2 to fit next week also.
I might even try finding one of those new ones for the machines next week
