G'day
I have got a GU4 Patrol ST 2008. Having trouble trying to figure out how best to mount my
UHF radio (Uniden UH400sx RM) it has the remote controls in the actual mic so I dont need to see the power unit if I dont want to. I have seen the dashpods, any other ideas? photos would be great.
Regards
Chris

If you don't intend to do any deep
water crossings you could mount the unit under the
seat and extend the mic. cable so you can mount the mic. on the dash somewhere.

I just recently fitted a (GME) remote head unit to my daughter & SIL's GU4...
mounted the main unit (w/- cradle) to the panel directly below the steering column, & the remote head beneath the heater/fan controls in front of the gearstick... main unit is unobtrusive, and the legs clear it no problems when getting in/out..
If your Uniden is a compact unit, try it there and see what you think..

Hello Chris,
I have mounted my UHF 'box' out of sight (although
mine is a GME Electrophone).
There is enough room behind the panel at the back of the centre console. If you remove the rear
seat ash tray you are looking into
the spot I am referring to. Only 4 screws to remove the plastic cover and easy access to do the installation. I secured the UHF mounting bracket to the back 'wall' of the centre console storage bin.

Not sure of its dimensions, but some people have mounted their UHF vertically in the switch panel area of the GU console on the opposite side of the handbrake (earlier GUs, anyway). Works for the GME.

Chris,
After having a closer look at the radio you are talking about obviously my suggestion is not an option for you, but it's still a good one for remote head radios.

Mate in Albury has mounted the main unit under passenger
seat, and the remote head site neatly between
the gap at the front of the console, and the bottom of the dash...
Dunno where I will put UHF in my GU, ( pick it up Friday ) , hopefully in a neat spot, somewhere, as I am chasing a Icom 400 Pro, and it's a solid unit.
Maybe I will be forced to get a remote head one, like you have..just for neatness,
There will be somewhere, all I have to do is find a spot for the Icom
Cheers
Bucky

Thanks guys, much appreciated.
This is my radio
Uniden UH400sx
So as you can see all I need to see is the mic (as all the controls are in it).

Chris

Yeah, I knew which one you were talkin' about ;-))
that's why I suggested the location I did, so as to be "out of the way" without being completely hidden away, as you do have the display on the front of the front of the unit, and it's handy (IMO) to be able to confirm at a glance what channel you're on, or whatever else the radio's doin' ;-)

G'day, my UHF remote head unit, is mounted above the centre console, the one on the roof and the remote head attached in front of the galsses holder, angled towards the driver. Looks neat and every thing is out of harms way. Hope this gives you another option.
