After having read all the problems people have had on recent trips I will be taking it extra easy over the next five weeks of desert travels.
We are off early Saturday for what is now becoming somewhat daunting.
Slowly slowly will be the order of the day me thinks.

I hope all those who have experienced problems have not been too inconvenienced.

Don't listen to everything you hear/read! ARe you going to be here for dinner Tuesday night? (There'll be some interesting others here as well - might ease your mind).

Wim,

I had a touch of concern before our recent trip out to Birdsville, but just took it easy as you mentioned and we got out there and back with only a flat tyre and slight damage to trailer brake wiring (which i fixed on the side of the road). Preparation and common sense in driving to the conditions is the key.

You'll have a great time out there!

The bad news is usually the most reported - a bit like the evening news.

With basic preparation, a good vehicle check and common sense driving, most outback trips are free of dramas.

Hi Wim, I'm with you, seeing that photo with the three vehicles on the back of that truck has certaintly got me a bit worried, more so than when we were planning the CSR. Ah well we have five more weeks and a trip to Shark Bay before we leave for Birdsville so should get over it by then.

Enjoy your trip

Cheers
