With all the talk and speculation on what is the best after market
suspension system it can be very difficult to make a decesion. I live in Qld and the maximium legal
suspension lift is just 2". I am currently considering the tough dog adjustable
suspension for my GU Nissan patrol and am interested in any advise

John
I know your dilemma here in QLD and I have done allot of research….I have a 2 inch on my GU and I find that I don’t need to go any bigger and it has not stopped me to get
places where I want to go. Yes I would love a 5 or 6inch lift purely for looks but the facts is the diffs stay the same height and unless you roll your diffs there’s not much point in going for a massive lift. Mind you I force my truck into
places sometimes by using the lockers but I can still get up there.
I recently went from Rancho’s to Koni’s and I am very impressed so far. I used a place that specializes in re-building shocks and I asked the question about tough-dog and some of the other main brands and he said they are all tough looking shocks from the outside but in the inside they are crap. I ended up with Koni’s purely by going from what people have told me and from what I have read on this form.
Don’t forget about the insurance issues if something bad happens and you have to claim if you truck was not legal in your state

Tough dog heavy duty springs, very little sag. If you need a bit more put air bags i to stop any slight sag and that way yu stay legal. I run TD and have had no problem with them and travell corrugated roads all the time with very little heat build up in them.

Recently put a full Ironman kit ln my 75 series Cruiser, with 2 inch lift and let me tell you its the best
suspension i have ever had on a 75 series. Had everything from OME to EFS, Monroe, Lovells and Koni over a peroiod of many years and on various 75s. This kit has really suprised me in the ride, though i havent checked it with a real load yet. Best thing about it all was the whole kit only cost $1100. Far better then the quoted $2000-$2800 for all the others. I would seriously consider Ironman as i will be staying with them for some time if they continue to perform the way they are. The
Gibb River Road will test them out in a fortnight.
