Never thought about this before....sorry if its lame but i really want to know.
Watching KiwiAngler travel across several states made me wonder about the effect of timezones on the traveller especially the transition from Central to Western Time.

If you listen to Adelaide news and it says Sunrise is at 5:30 that's fine for them but if you were at the SA side of Surveyor General's Corner it will be a little bit later, picking a random guess at say 5:40.

Now if you are in WA at Surveyor General's Corner chatting to a guy across the border in SA, he has just had a sunrise at 5:40 and you are having the same sunrise at 4:10 if my math is right here, because WA is running 1.5 hrs behind SA.

Is this right or are some parts of WA running on SA time like Broken Hill in NSW does?

Wayne

Broken Hill runs on CST, the same as Adelaide but Eucla in WA runs on Western Central Time which is 45 minutes behind CST

Check it out here

Cheers

Good site Willem thanks
I wasn't aware of the WCT Zone. It should run all the way up the country instead of being in a little pocket like that IMO.

On the Nullarbor, from Caiguna east to Eucla, they run on time half-way between WAST and SAST; ie, 3/4 hour difference. Understand Border Village on SA side is the same.
Unofficial, of course.
At the top end, I recall Kununurra is on WAST, despite being on the border.

The net result is that you go back in time going East to West, and the opposite if you come this way.

And heading North from NSW!

Geoff,

Grey hair is hereditary, you get it from children. Baldness is caused by watching the Wallabies.

Sorry small Korean Kiwi but even the bulk of your homies disagree.

The general vibe in the kiwi news is Wallabies under Deans to beat the Small Blacks under Henry.

Can you sing that song "The one that got away" ? (As a general hint old BBC episodes of The Goodies will supply the answer)

You had your chance and decided recycling the tired coach was the way backward to a second World Cup exit. How many of those exactly have you won?

"You should have seen the one that got away"

Can't disagree about the coaches :-((

Wish the game was being played over here - it's bloody cold with torrential rain, might give us a bigger advantage. Ah well, off to Cape York in two weeks, hope it's a bit warmer and drier up there.

The next G phone system changes as you go. When you get signal you get the time for that area of Oz.

That zone site was great.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.
