Hi everyone, I have a 2005 Landcruiser ute with the factory turbo diesel engine. When driving the car, the engine revs after depressing the clutch when changing gear (as if I had the accelerator pedal pushed down), there is no problem unless the car is actually being driven down the road. Has anyone come across this before? Somewhere in the back of my head I remember someone telling me what the problem is, unfortunately, I do not always have access to that part of my brain...can't remember the password hehehe.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

They are Drive by wire - so can't blame a cable!!
Is the accelerator pedal sticking, and not coming back?

As an aside, they do get EGR problems, and the fix is simple:

Do you have the "heat" or "idle up" switch on?

Cheers

Hi,

Mine does it too. ( 2003 TD model )I have always felt it was because I did not take my foot off the accelerator pedal quickly enough. Perhaps it happens only when I wear my size 13 bluntstones instead of my thongs.

I suspect it could be related to pollution regulation emissions

Check the return spring on the throttle? Might have been stretched. Happened on my old girl once.

Ok if its the 1HD-FTE engine it is a TCV(timing control vlave ) fault in the pump.

Very common some can be done on the vehicle ,but normally requires the pump off to replace and recalibrate.

Does the vehicle have a diaphragm in the fuel pump ?????.

Earlier model vehicles with such a setup and a torn or holed diaphragm exhibited similiar problems or worse.
