Hello all, my son picked up a 03 Mazda 1800 van yesterday for his cleaning business. It has an after market dash mount display fitted as well as four sensors fitted across the rear bumper. When you engage reverse, the dash mount lights up with two oscillating red indicators & emits an audible alarm.
As you continue to reverse, and when the rear of the vehicle comes within about 1.5 metres of an obstacle, such as a parked vehicle, the dash mounts commences to display the separation distance between your bumper & the obstacle behind you.
It looks simple & seems to me to be handy safety device & I wouldn't mind getting one for my ute.
Does anyone out there know who markets such a device. ( I'm not talking cameras) Jay car, maybe? Thanks & cheers.

I got a 2-sensor version with distance display from Strathfield for about $60 about 3 yrs ago. Dunno if they still carry them. Dead easy to install, apart from the quaint Chinglish instructions.

I have a 4 sensor version from KMart. They had them on clearance a while back for $80. You may still find stores with them (ussually in a locked cabinet in either the auto or the photo sections). Works well, particulalry inconjunction with a camera.
