Haven't been out in the troopy for a good few weeks, but yesterday sparked it up and was met with a terrible stink when I switched on the aircon. Week before I had a dead mouse in bedroom split unit! Left it running on full chill for half an hour and it seemed to disappear - any ideas WTH it is? Never experienced this one before!

It is bacteria in the evaporator core. Wurth do a great product that you simply spray into the intake and it kills bacteria and deodorises the system.

I have used this product and highly recommend it.

Had the same problem in my 60 series, thought a gecko must have died in the ducting somewhere but it turned out that the gas used in the system has an inbuilt odour so you can detect leaks. They replaced the TX valve and presto, smell gone.

So if deodorant doesn't fix it see an A/C teckie.

Cheers
