In a recent question about GPS' KennyBWilson replied that OziexploreCE could be used on the Navman S80. Does anyone know how do you contact Oziexplore, as they don't have a contact section on their web page?. I have purchased Oziexplore and use it on my laptop with a GPS arial. I might purchase the CE version if I can use it on the Navman.

PS...you can download and try OziCE without purchasing anyway. The program just has limitations and a nag screen. You may however need to use an unconvention install method for the Navman as it appears to be one of those devices using special version of windows mobile operating sytem.

We just ran three Navman S50's and one S80 hacked to run Oziexplorer CE (as well as the standard Navman software) across our desert trip. Absolutely awesome way to do it - set the maps and tracks up on a notebook, dump to the Navman and off you go. Much better than the laptop in the passengers lap option. We even used the PC software to create our own Ozi CE display page with all the feature buttons we wanted to save paging between displays. Namely we had the map, zoom ratio, speed, Odo + start & reset, and less / more detailed map functions on the screen at once.

Ozi CE will let you plot tracks and waypoints straight on the screen, swap between map details, work out distances, log the actual track taken, run multiple Odometers, give vehicle speed over time information and so on.

Hardest part about hacking them is setting up the program links to open the programs (i did it by editing the files in notepad with the Navman connected to a PC), but if you follow the pages on the site carefully you will work it out. For convenience we ran Ozi + the maps off the SD card but Ozi will also run from the internal flash disk. If I get time I can do a writ up on it for Ozi. Note that if you go ahead and hack one you need to follow the instructions for the manual version rather than the PC Sync version as this series Navman does not run it. DO not follow the video demo as the process is quite different.

Pat.

Thanks Pat. I'll need to speak to you some more after buying the GPS.
