Hi. Has anyone visited the Ruddall River NP recently and can tell me what the track is like from Newman? Any other tips would be appreciated as we intend visiting the area soon. PoppyG

The road from Newman to Balfour Downs and along the Talawana Track to the turnoff to Ruddall is normally kept in good condition and graded on a regular basis as it services the Cotton Creek(Parngurr) Community.

The tracks in Ruddal River NP are ordinary bush tracks with the odd washout after rains. These roads are not maintained but are easy driving tracks with a bit of sand here and there. They do not vary much from year to year

Cheers

William. Do you require permits, is fuel available from any of the communities and are the tracks easy to locate? We will have a GPS, but I like to always have a back plan.

No permit required. Tracks are signposted. Suggest you buy a Hema Desert Tracks Map.

Fuel is available at Cotton Creek but it is best to phone ahead and make sure they have supplies at hand. Last I heard it was $3.00lt for diesel and no ULP available. Entry to Jigalong Coomunity is permit related but that is out of your way anyway.

William. No ULP will make it interesting as I run a petrol Prado, so extra supplies will be needed. cheers
