I have a 100 series Landcruiser and want to upgrade
the springs in the rear. Currently im running OME863. My landcruiser is loaded for travelling all the time. I have long range
tank, arb dual wheel carrier, drawers,
water etc etc. So i need something to hold all this weight.
Looking at upgrading to OME864, but wanted to see if anyone is running OME868, and what their thoughts are of them.
Regards JB

Mate,,, Unless the OME868 is rated to 400kgs forget it...
Straight away i can see an extra 400kgs of weight more than a normal cruiser...
Unless you got big kg springs they will sag under load,,, but if your car is not loaded it will skip around a bit...
Go with extra kg springs...

I am running the hardest OME I think that is the 868, I had the 864’s on the vehicle prior and found it wallowed and they were way too soft.
Camp trailer dragged on the ground when we were fully loaded with fuel and
camping gear. I ripped the diff locker lines off and bottomed out several times on our last trip. I also run twin rear tyre carrier and BFG AT’s they alone are bloody heavy, but add 170l of diesel in the rear
tank then hook on the
camp trailer and
the springs just didn’t cut it.
I find it very stiff when not loaded since upgrading and a bit bumpy over corrugations when empty, but once you put some weight in the rear it behaves as it should and the ride is fine. If it didn’t work I was looking to air bags or a different brand of springs but thankfully these made a huge difference.

WhiteKnight,
i have the 864s in my 100 and still found them too soft with the same gear and at the time that was the hardest spring they had.i ended up puting coil rites in the back and it is now fantastic.i was still considering changing them but it holds and handles OK.so it will stay as is.cheers Paul
