Evening All,

we pulled the motor out of my 100 series to find out where the crank broke, between big end 6 and the last bearing (not the rear one) we are unable to determine whether the crank broke and flogged the bearings out or vice versa.not much big end bearing left so head contact is highly likely(havnt pulled head off) so it looks like a new long motor and have my ancillaries rebuilt/checked and tested as required. what a disappointing turn of events.have contacted toyota but no response as yet but i am not holding my breath.now i know how the people with ZD30s feel!!LOL cheers Paul

Hi mate,

You poor bugger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep me posted on how Toyota respond as I have several friends who always say Toyota after service care kicks Nisan arse (not to hard). Hopefully they come to the party.

I would agree with your friends Dave and Shelley, Toyota went way beyond the norm for me but mine was still under waranty at the time. They covered things like rental cars and the works for me....over what I was expecting.

I hope and trust they will look after you too TD100.

Regards, Trevor.

Paul,
Thanks for the update - a lot of the Forum are following your plight with interest. Haven't heard of it before on a 1HD-FTE - I'd be asking Toyota questions.

Have you owned it since new?
I'm sure a few people at the LCOOL forum would be interested to hear about it too - maybe someone there could shed some light on what may have happened.

Hi Phil,

Yeh i bought her new,5k services and more than she needed before she needed it !! and this happens? well it was either it flogged out a bearing (which is fairly common) and overflexed the crank or the crank broke and flogged out the bearings-we will never know.lot of bearing material around so turbo and injector pump off to be rebuilt and we will see what toyota says otherwise i have lined up a new genuine long motor which is the way to go.too many variables in possible stress fractures of top or bottom section of block, these engines are tight and critical on tolerances,5 different thickness head gaskets etc.etc etc.so we shall wait for toyotas response. cheers Paul

Hope you are not dealing with Bendigo Toyota. You will be waiting a long time for a reply from them. That has been my experience lately.
