Has anyone heard of a date when Nissan is to release the new model Patrol and what the engines will be?

Ive been waiting for three years!! Something in the press a few weeks ago i believe, about a new V6 diesel engine in 2009/10. Going by the ugly box they have out now and their general lack of commitment to the Patrol model... I wouldnt hold your breath.. I think there is a push on to see who can make the ugliest 4x4,

Sang yong are upset with Toyota also for stealing their Musso design for the 200 series LOL!! Michael

I think those 2 or 3 year old Hiluxes (with all that tin area) were the first ones to get hit with 'the ugly stick' design..

I don't know when it's coming but it cant be soon enough after recieving our 1st 3L Patrol tray last week. Being fitted out with trade cupboards, winch & ladder racks it weighs just short of max GVM & particually in the top gears is totally guttless. The trucky who dropped if off said "I hope you dont want to drive it up any hills" as he had trouble getting the thing up the ramp on the car carrier :-( When the turbo is off boost it's a slug & braking is very poor. I actually feel the Tritons carry & tow weight far better than the bigger Patrols. A big TD engine certainly needs to put back in the model line up.
Cheers Craig.........

You have to ask yourself if you would buy the latest Commodore or Falcon if it was a 4 cylinder!!! Probably not and it weighs 1800kg.. Michael

Actually Mick I would consider an economical 2WD 4 cylinder family wagon with a 135KW turbo diesel. Good idea :-)

yea, between now and 2050

it will be either a straight config or V
it will be between 1 and 12 cyls.
NA/Turbo/supercharged

The only sure thing is it will have IFS...
RIP real 4wds.

My thoughts are they wont bring one out, if they do, it will be the last patrol...

The market is dying with fuel prices, dying overseas markets,

Sticking wth the grenade, even in their worktrucks which is laughable, its obvious that Nissan has little interest in large slow selling 4wds that they cant sell in USA, and now that the Patrol isnt sold in Japan anymore thats another deep cut.
So Its only now the market is tiny for them. The pathfinder will become the fagship.

Maybe Im wrong, wouldnt be the first time I thought marriage was a good thing too.

Strangely the only 2 countries that Nissan have put a CRD 3.0l in the Patrol are Australia and NZ. UK, South Africa etc still have the old Di motor after it's release here 18months ago. What gives with that? The other main market for the Patrol is the Middle East where the 4.2 is still available and the 3.0 was never available. At approx 400 vehicles per month, Australia is supposed to be the biggest market for the Patrol.

The Patrol isn't sold in the US so you think it would be hard to justify a new Patrol based on the existing sales. I read one of the execs saying that it was too small for the US market and RFS would never fly there.

The Armada in the US has IRS, the best hope is that Nissan put a rigid axel in the rear for the Patrol markets IMHO. Though you could never accuse Nissan of "over investing" in the Patrol.

IMHO a 2006 4.2l will be the peak of the product.
