Good question.
I was quoted $2000 (ball
park) to mount battery under tray in custom built set-up. As you are aware there is no room under bonnet for anything.
I have installed a 'flyer' battery pack from ABR (Derick - who advertises on this web site). I remove it when not in use and put on a charger ready for the next time. I have mounted it in a cradle I made in the tool box set-up i have on the tray. All the cables are permanently installed in the car at the battery location and it charges from the car alternator as the normal battery. It is a great system.
Good to remove it also when not in use to reduce weight.
All up it cost me $720 including 95AHr battery. It took me 2 hrs to install all wiring which was easy to do.

Like Marco T, I used one of Dereks' Flyers. Mounted on a cradle (from ebay) that sits on the right rear wheel arch. The cable runs through a rubber bung on the tray's front end. Nice arrangement, as it sits up high, takes little usable space and is accessible through the canopy side window.
From memory, I think Derek will have a cradle available shortly.

I have been looking into the Piranha set up for the D40. Deep Cycle Battery is mounted under the passenger side just in front of the fuel
tank. Looks good. I have been quoted between $1300 to $1700 fitted with all bits and cables to rear tray.
Hope that helps?
