Hi folks. I'm looking for some assistance please.

I have an Al-ko power wheel and I'm wanting to weld a plate and swivel bracket onto the A frame on the camper. This would be in addition to the normal jockey wheel currently on the camper on the right hand side of the A frame. I want to weld another (power wheel) jockey wheel on the left hand side of the A frame.

I am looking for information regarding where I might locate a plate and swivel clamp in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne (or if need be via online shopping) to weld onto the trailer frame. Some places will sell me the plate, bracket and the al-ko shaft already welded to the bracket but I am not looking for this as I will weld the jockey wheel shaft to the bracket myself.

I hope I have explained this so you can understand.

In summary, I'm looking for somewhere in Melbourne where I can buy the plate and swivel bracket only. Preferably in the south eastern suburbs.
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

My understanding is that it is considered a 'no-no' to weld anything onto the A-frame. Might pay to check with someone knowledgeable on the subjetc. Caravan builder/repairer etc.

Certainly no vertical welds.

Perhaps I should have mentioned, I have already had an engineer take a look at what I want to do.

When you say you can't weld anything onto the A frame, there is already a jockey wheel plate and swivel bracket welded onto the right hand side. What's the problem welding one on the left hand side too?

I intend to have this done properly and re-galvanised once welded.

It will not damage the integrity of the A frame in any way.

Welding a jockey wheel bracket/spare wheel carrier/push bike carrier/gas bottle carrier onto the A frame is not a problem if done correctly. Vertical welds can be achieved after lamination.

Give hardings a call, they are an AL-KO stockist, they may have what you seek. BTW, the ALKO factory is in the Dandenong Sth.

Gooday Paul
I bought this from Spinney Things through eBay.

These ppl are damn good to deal with.
I got the 'bolt on' unit, and for an extra $6/7 got the correct size U bolts to suit.
Delivery was fast, and they even sent me change from my payment when they realised they had over quoted for postage. Amazing.
