Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions and tongue-in cheek comments et al with reference to post 60105. It is amazing to read of so many Worry-mungerers :-)
This morning I discovered a small technical glitch and have pulled Stage 1 apart and have started again from scratch. Will most likely go with Phil G's suggestion this time around. This however will necessitate more compromise in what I can carry in and how I can store it.
So, you can all wait with bated breath......hahahahaha
Cheers

I can't remember what I suggested, but I think it was to get a troopie :-)))
But.......If it were me, I'd have the jerries sitting upright behind the front seats in the footwells, so they can stand upright (or even tilted a bit), and I'd have them
well secured to the
seat mounts. And that weight is then nicely forward of the rear axle.

In the beginning......I looked at Troopy's. I could only afford the 75 series which has such an uncomfortable seating position for me its not funny. Couldn't afford a 78 series which had some modification to the drivers footwell and a slightly better left foot position but still not perfect. The GQ offered the best drivers position of all large 4bies.
Yep, that is what I am doing now. Have installed the base already. Basic footwell and rear of vehicle(all seats removed) is undulating, so a base board is needed, with sides ofcourse and the ability to tie the jerries down. May even get all 9 in plus some
water containers. This done I have had to move the fridge back to its old position and thus there will be sleeping place for 1 only. Compromise, compromise....lol

Many a true word is spoken in jest.
The thought has crossed my mind however. But perish the thought! It is hard enough getting up off the house bed, let alone something on the ground.....I'd be there for half an hour trying to rise with some dignity............LOL

Packing for a trip is half the fun . Unpacking on the other hand i find not fun . I have seen somewhere on the net some square corners that fit into regular 1 inch steel tube . Just cannot seem to locate it though .
