Has anyone ever done one, you know like the Variety or Endeavour events??
My family and I are going as support team/participants in this year's 'Just4Kids Great Australian Motortrail'.
We leave for
Townsville in a bit over a week, and are still getting ourselves together for it.
Has anyone got any tales to tell of involvement in this or other events of a similar nature??
We have been m,ade so very welcome by the organisers of the event and are really looking forward to the experience, and getting to spend ~14 days all up in the Savannah with my car full of my favourite people is just such a bonus...
more info on the event at
http://www.p7offroad.com.au/just4kids.shtml
any feedback is welcome...

hey dave,
been a few years now, but i've done about 6 or 7 endevour rallies. not sure what they are like these days as it's been probably 10 years since i last went on one. i needed a holiday when i got back, was alot of late nights up drinking and early starts the next day if we were doing the manning of a stage somewhere. they were always good fun, and you get to meet alot of nice folk both along the way and involved in the event itself. no kids were on our trips though, so not sure how much help i can be for you with that.

I agree, I havn't been but I'm sure you know my dad, Ding from car 500. I've met most of the folk and there stories tally with yours.
so now I'm interested to know which car you were involved in on the off chance we've met along the way?
Best of luck with the rally Dave, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

fishing expo, yeh mate i'll be in that again, probably have to start working on the misses to let me go now though.
hey cackles,
the name ding sure rings a bell, but being 10 years since i was on a rally i'd have to see his face to remember who he was. for some reason i'm thinking a 4wd type vehicle belonged to him, but i could be wrong. i was with car 104 which was a yellow f100, aka bigfoot. i was sometimes in the middle
seat of the f truck, but also used to take my white dualcab hilux 4wd with a white canvas canopy as the backup vehicle.

Yeah I remember Bigfoot, your name still comes up from time to time, all good though. I think you used to give him a run in the 4wd catagory.
My Partner Dan remembers you too, he did it in 2000 on the
birdsville (the year they won) and 2001. Other memorable navi's include Gregor and GP Mongrel.
I just uploaded a photo to my profile which may make it easier for you to remember.
Next years will be good, Mackay to
Townsville via the cape, hoping to go as backup but will see how life unfolds.
cheers

Little brother got home on Saturday, been doing the Endeavour for about 12years, he and his wife won the Super this year, got a car load of trophies and good memories. It was going to be his last, but they haven't been to Thursday Island, so it's back on for next year. He wants me to go as backup. Also, Jamie needs more officials, a few of the oldies are pulling out this year. Would be fun, I haven't been on one since the Tasmania trip.
