Glen, that was me you passed on the Puntawarri. At the Calverts several CALM officers were doing a tag and release of the wallabies with a view to reintorducing them to Durba in about two years. They asked for the permits prefacing it with the fact that they didn't actually have the power to demand them.Only to happy to show them. Also at Durba, three younger Traditional Owners were cruising around in a troopy asking people for their Canning Permits.

Willem, your campspot at the Calverts is off bounds now. Looked like a great spot tho. We had to camp in the main camp ground area.

Yes their is a new track to the Eagle Hwy from the Calverts...ours. Track largely dissappeared. We would occassionally find the remanants of old tyre tracks but the majority of our trip was pushing through a new track (murder on the tyre!)

Ran into Alan (Equinox) and his dad John at Rudall River on the 17th. The fair maid of perth had carried him to success on his quest for Patience well which was great for him (The Fair Maid did a better job for Al than she did for poor Mr. Gibson).

Quads were used to great effect in Rudall with some amazing country covered and a few descoveries made. A new Pillar that dwarfs Hanging rock and a high rock pool whose bottom was flecked with gold (Easy guys - Fools gold I'm sure).

Having an excellent time.

Cheers. Mick

Thanks for the report, quite illuminating.
As for Alan, yes he alluded to some success in one of his posts. I'm very pleased indeed for him.
A bit rash mentioning the filthy yella stuff, plenty of fools around to check it out LOL
Sad to see the restrictions. Probably necessary but still sad, especially as tangible benefits seem a bit thin on the ground so far.

Hi Mick ,

We went out to Bocrabee Hill as planned . After a good look we located the track North we had seen on Google Earth . It had not been used for a few years and we kept loosing it - finally ending up at a creek with a few small pools in it .

I will email you with more info .

We never made it up to Gregory Pool as we ran out of time .

Cheers ,

Willie .

G'day Mick

Good to hear from you. Thanks for clearing up the Rangers question. Yes, I thought that that campsite may in the future be closed. It may even be a Sacred Site.

Busy working on wagon with the view of a big trip out in the Northwest next year, funds withstanding.

If you are coming back this way, call in. I may even be home....lol

Cheers

Mick,

Does the current permit allow you to take the Clavert to Eagle Hwy track. We were asked to remove the notes from the site as the Calvert Ranges were out of bounds - I just want to clarify this as we can turn the notes back on if the permits allow access.

I stand to be corrected but I thought the Land Claim won by the Martu people did not extend past the east side of the Calvert Ranges as it was determined to not be their lands??

The track/route from Warri Site to the Calvert Ranges and all the area in between, Constance Headland, Mt Madley etc did not require permits??
