Gooday all. I have had nothing but trouble from my Tekonsha Voyager brake controller. It has always been needing adjusting and has now failed so it is past time for replacement. My question is what to replace it with? I have read that the Tekonsha Prodigy is a good unit and now their latest, the P3 is supposedly the best but on phoning around chasing prices have had the REDARC recommended by no less than three auto eleckies. Does anyone have one of these units and, if so, are they any good. I would go for the REDARC having had one of their battery isolators for a number of years but have never heard of their brake controllers until today.

The Hayman product can be mounted at any angle as it does not have the pendulum gismo!! Hayman is a more basic unit also.. Michael

The Redarc are good units but are not a sophisticated as the Prodogy, the Prodogy gives a lot better progressive control over the Redarc.
Redarc have made brake controllers for over 10 years.

Have a Prodigy. Also can be mounted at acute angles. Have no problems with it and can be purchased at a reasonable price from ABR.

Go the prodigy and you will find that the wiring you have now will be the same.
The prodigy is far superior IMHO to any other and is easy to adjust plus once set for a particular trailer/van you can forget it. If you change to another van or trailer it is easy to reset.
I too had a Hayman then a Voyager and finally changed to a Prodigy and the difference was chalk and cheese.

I second that bigtime.
Have heard of older Voyagers being replaced out of warranty because of a basic fault.
Why not take it back and try and do a deal on a Prodigy

Hi. I have recently fitted the Prodigy to my Prado and the Prodigy P3 to my brother's new landcruiser 200. Both are excellent units and work
well but the P3 is only recommended to be installed horizontally where the prodigy can be installed up to 70 deg angle. The P3 has a better internal program that has more functions and will operate electric/hydraulic brake systems. I contacted the Tekonsha technical people in
Melbourne and one thing they were adamant about was that if you have a late vehicle with cruise control then the wire that activates the brake unit should be run from the brake light wire at the REAR of the vehicle, not from the brake light switch. Bob.

The Redarc EB1AX
http://redarc.com.au/EB1AX.pdf does not apear to have a pendulum or decelarometer in it. I would use it. The Hayman Reese one also does not have either of these and I also would not use it.
