Can I get some advice on what to go for? Heavy duty front & Medium (2" lift all round) for rear was what the guy at ARB proposed for my 1997 80LC 1HD-FT engine (Hope I got it right). I don't tow very heavy stuff (At present). Just up to eight person & 3 mountain bike when travelling far & Tows a light trailer around town for work every now & then. Will be looking for a steel bar up front in the future and winch if I get lucky. Do I need HD Springs for the rear too?
Interesting that ARB have spec Caster kits & lower shock stone guards with the package. All good & bad comment pls. Rgds

If you are going to add the steel bar and winch then I would suggest that you do get the heavy duty springs now as it will be cheaper than doing it later by doing it as one package.

Hi Wil
I would go for the 850 front spring if you are getting bar and possibly winch, and the diesel engine is a heavy sucker aswell (compared to a 1fz) also the 863 rear which is medium hvy duty.
Only do the caster if you are unhappy with the way it steers afterwards, because it is a step backwards for articulation, and once a winch goes on it will be closer to how it is now.

Wil, heavy front & medium rear, if it is some time to the bullbar fitment, the steering will be alittle sensitive, at 100ks becomes very annoying that it doesn't seam to go strait. Its not a comfortable drive. I had to wait a couple of weeks for the bullbar to come, any longer you'll too get frustrated with it.
I would think that they could preload the front and set it up to start with then the jobs done, just a thought. Stone guards do there job.

Is your a diesel engine? Could I possiblilly get away with it since I have a diesel motor? If money is no object, then I would go for the whole lot.
I would like to have it all eventually, hopefully by Christmas. :(

Just a though. What If I workout the weight of the bullbar & goodies for the front. Then just bolt some dead weight (die plates or steel channels) to the inside of the front bumpers for now. Then it should ride like I have all the stuff on! :V

The BEST way to do it is to set up your car first, then do the
suspension last.
Otherwise if you set it up now for a bar and winch in future, its gonna suck until then. Or if you dont, its going to cost you money down the track to do the
suspension AGAIN...
YMMV

What if I just raise the back now and wait till later on to do the front in 1 go? Problem is the back is saggin big time and the 285/75 is touching the inner guards when cornering at speed or diving into a dip at high speed.
Will I get good driving charateristics with a rear raise?

Its up to you, you could put spring packers in there from ARB. $20ish that would raise 10mm and save your tires until you have the $ to do it right.
I just have learnt the hardway to think ahead... You could do what you suggested, many do, you could try

Thanks to all for your reply. I have decided to go for the 860/8500 combo & caster kit as recommended by ARB. Apparently the wheel alignment guys said that it's good for handling. Which is important to me. Cheers
