Hi Guys , on the road at the moment & seem to be having with correct GPS readings. I,m using a PDA with Oziexplorer & Copilot on two different chips, both give me the same co-ordinates but on checking with others on the road & at camps mine is along way out, even when i check with the caravan parks theirs & mine don't line up. interesting the degree out varies each night . question is is there some way i can get this corrected .
apart from the slight problems holiday is going fine from Mandurah -Ceduna- Roxby Downs- Pt Augusta -William Creek=Coober pedy -Oodnadatta-Ururu-Three Ways & now at Charters Towers
Only one Puncture not bad for 8000kms 2500of it on dirt roads

Tony,
How far out are your reading compared to others you have compared to?
I may be asking the obvious but are you sure you have the correct datum set? EG do you have AGD66, WGS84 or GDA94 set?

I should also have asked what datum you maps use in your PDA as the GPS and the Map datums should be the same.

Tony,
I was less specific than "Bushtrek" but meant the same thing. Just follow his instructions but find out first what datum your maps are and then set up the same datum in OziExplorer. As he said most would be on WGS84 but some may not and I don't know what maps you are using. If you don't know where to find that info, let us know what maps you are using and many on this forum could then let you know the datum you should set in Ozi.

Good luck

Check your datum matches first.
Within Configuration folder:-
Under GPS(NMEA) Output datum make sure it is WGS 84.
Under General settings ensure the Display datum is also WGS 84.

Now recheck the output info.

If its out tell us by how much both northing and easting.

Cheers

The issue sounds possibly like a "co-ordinate format" one......you may have the settings in DDMMSS.SS and the other GPSr in DDMM.MMM (or even DD.DDDDD) etc.

I agree that is also a possibility so to check for that , note down your GPS coords in the format they are displayed and also the coordinates of the GPS against which you are comparing in the format they are displayed but be careful that you record them properly including decimal places or you'll confuse yourself even more.
