GME TX3220 vs UNIDEN HF088

I have Uniden mounted in my truck. I been given (for free – without any question best value for money!) GME unit and I like it more then Uniden. Would you bother to swap them in my situation? Would I gain anything from such exchange? I would do it without any thinking if not one apparently big BUT. Uniden nicely occupied DIN slot while GME not and will require to make some bracketing and even then will not sit that tightly.

Knowing myself I think eventually I will. I just need to solve what to do with DIN hole and where to put GME. Do you know if any fascia available?

BTW Serg i forgot to say it was around the $20.00 mark and comes complete with mounting bracket for the UHF

Yep, thanks – this is what I am exactly after. I am in
Melbourne, thus SA suppliers not an option (unless they happy to send it over). Do you know manufacturer and/or model for me to search on net? $20 is not a problem – diesel cost much more nowadays :-)))))))

I used the same fascia for some time..... does the job and looks very neat! Took it out 'cos I needed the DIN slot for something else and have mounted the GME in where the ashtray used to be.

I have two UH088 Unidens. I like the radio - only issue I've had in 10 years is a microphone replacement, and I like the front mount speaker.
If you're fitting that GME in the dash, I assume you'll be committed to using an external speaker??

I have quite a few Unidens and generally happy with them. Not saying that something terribly wrong with Uniden – I just like GME more. Eternal speaker not an issue at all because I am already have one with Uniden and it nicely tucked under dash.
