Hi Ryan,
I believe that the Pearce Simpson Leopard mk111 is a UHF CB.
Unfortunately there is not much information on the Net about the particular model as Hatadi (Makers / Distributors) of the Pearce Simpson brand apparently went out of Business shortly after the mk111 was released.
Cheers,
Mal

One of the models was nicknamed "The deaf leopard" because of poor receive sensitivity. Not sure if it was that particular model.

Think you'll find it is 27 mhz NOT UHF.

Hi Ryan,
I may stand to be corrected but I think my father had a similar unit and it was 27 Mhz.

William

The Pearce Simpson leopard mk111 is a
UHF radio and used a PLL02a Cybernet chip set....much like the old Cybernet 27Mhz radios.
They were OK in there days but getting to old now.
The Leopard B were 27Mhz
The Super-: Lion, Cheater and Tomcat, Tiger , Bengal, Puma, Couger, Panther and any other cat name were 27Mhz.

Ahhhh
Now theres a few names that bring back memories, have a modified Pearce Simpson Super Panther in my rig, dont turn it on all that often but was a great unit in its day.
Remember the days when 27 mh came out, and we went through the supposed "illegal to have one" stage, Still have a Kenwood 520 with 27 mh crystal in it, was a great base station.
Cheers Pesty

Hey Pesty,
I'm gonna up you here...I'm still using the TS-520S..What a fine piece of gear. Got a few spare valves hidden away in case they become obsolete !!!

Nothing wrong with some of the old gear, we still use a kenwood AT-230 antenna tunner.

LOL Robin, No pirates here, what the police did in the late 70's was illegal, so not going to worry to much now, would be hardly any 27 mhz radois even used.
Good one signman, just looked at my 520s in the cupboard, but need to string up a long wire and dig out my HC 500 antenna coupler to get it cranked up, although i still have a 27mhz groundwave antenna on the roof.
Might have to wait for a fine spring day to crank up.
Very sad Richard that we are old enough to remember so much back so far !!! LOL
Cheers Pesty

Thats alright Pesty.....now we know why Robin acts the way he does and you said it was his breeding! LOL
Yeap it's sad when you can remember when 27Mhz CB radio went from 18 channels to 40 and when they first introduced the UHF CB band.
Here's some more names-: Kraco, Hygain 5, Lafaette, Sanyo, Ferris, Sound 4, HMV Roadhound, Kemtronic, Signet.....
TW232 Leson microphones, Digiscans, 1/2 wave Ringo antennas.
So sad!

There was a radio put out by Pearce Simpson in the USA called a Leopard B that was 27Mhz , Pearce Simpson in Australia released the Leopard as a UHF a couple of years after the Leopard B in the USA.
Pearce Simpson never imported the Leopard B into Australia but I'm sure some made it downunder.
