Hi all, does anyone know where i could get some maps for outback Qld going gold detecting and need some maps for the hand held GPSMAP 60CSX GPS would I get an Australian map or could I get maps for a particular State sorry bit of a novice type got a Navman for the Nissan thats fine but I need a bit of help with this new one for going out bush, any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

They're not actually "Shonky" but are a free download.

I'll second that, go for it.
You can managethem in MapSource and then download them into your Garmin, I do into my Map60C. You then have the option of toppo with or without contours. You cannot route plot in them however.

I should have mentioned this in my original reply, but with Shonky you download maps for the whole of Aust, but you can select which maps to transfer to the GPS. It is a big download though (around 330 MB).
If you're limited by an internet download limit, you could try Tracks 4 Australia. It's around 38MB, but doesn't have as much detail as Shonky.
