Hello forumites and especially 4JX1 T/D owners.
I replaced the timing belt at 200,000 K's as per service book, the belt was a Gates belt and readilly available.
The timing belt tensioner at the time was only a genuine item, something to the tune of over $400 if my memory serves me
well, which it inverably doesn't.
Either way it was
well over $200.
At the time the bearing seemed fine so I decided not to replace it.
The other day I was in my local Peps Auto One store and asked if they had a listing for a aftermarket tensioner and guess what? yes we do and with a small discount I picked it today and payed $85.00
What a difference, so for those in a similar boat the part no. is
Partech Timing Belt Tensioner.
PBT 127
Hope that is of interest,
William
