That looked more like towing than snatching.

Good video, but dangerous practice. Nothing wrong with the twin snatch, or even the recovery itself, but there are no dampeners on any of the straps, and the by-standers are way too close!

What it does show quite well is the fact that the recovering vehicle doesn't need to be going a zillion kph to perform the recovery! Nice and easy does it just as well!!

Thanks for posting it troopyman

Cheers

Dampeners are for winch cables aren't they?

Only thing they did wrong was not getting a excavator in and filling the whole in with the Land Rover still in it...

Dampeners (flapping bits of canvas) don't work !

They do however give people a good idea where the tow line is.

Not just for winch cables Dave, but also for winch extension straps and snatch straps. They all have the potential to become flying lethal weapons.

I agree with your comments on the flapping canvas Kiwi... I posted this on another thread a couple of days ago, I put it here again for the benefit of anyone reading this who doesn't know what a dampener is:

"For the benefit of anyone reading this who doesn't know what a dampener is, it's something attached to the strap to weight it down in the event of a breakage. ARB make a product specifically for this, but in my experience, they tend to "fly" off when the strap is stretched. We have a bag, like a beach bag that holds all our recovery gear in the truck and we tie that around the strap. We've also used blankets, jumpers, towels etc.. all with good results. They need to be tied strong, and then they won't come off."

Attach one dampener to each and every snatch strap/winch extension/winch cable etc....

Cheers

A lot of people have this thing about snatching ??

Never snatch if all it needs is a tow !!

If the tow doesn't work , then snatch !!

That would be two LAND ROVERS, not straps!
