Morning one and all,
I am considering a NS DID Pajero to tow a 2t caravan. A friend of a friend has told me they wouldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding... Can anybody tell me from personal experience the actual towing capability of this vehicle. I know they are rated at 2.5t same as the Pajero.
Kindest regards
Chris

f you look around they're one of the most popular tow vehicles out there amongst the
grey nomads. The 3.2DID is one sweet engine with lots of grunt for towing and pretty good fuel economy.

Hi Chris
I own a NS DID Pajero, and tow an offroad van that weighs approx 1750 kg. This is my third Pajero and the NS is by far the best Paj i've owned for towing etc. I tow my van through the Alps and into some pretty radical
places and i'm very impressed with it's towing and pulling capabilities. They are a great 4wd to drive with a lot of accessories etc. As with all my 4wds i would suggest an after market
suspension to help with handling etc.
I picked up my NS and two days later had the
suspension done.
The same NS sold over seas is rated as being able to tow 3.5 t but with the possibility of extreme temperatures in Aus they rate it's capacity as 2.5 t on all models sold here.

Redbakk, I am interested in your question in regard to the
suspension on the Pajero and I read the profile of the heavy duty
suspension. Are you aware of problems of Pajeros towing?

There is nothing to be concerned with the Pajeros
suspension but all modern 4wds have there
suspension set up configured fairly softly, to give a more comfortable ride. If you do some offroad touring and in particular towing in these conditions all suspensions will eventually sag. The benefits of a firmer, more durable after market
suspension, are in my opinion considerable so instead of upgading when the originals start to go soft or sag i replace them right from the start.

Colin, I am aware of a fellow with one who says he nearly lost control. I know nothing of the circumstance though to make assertions about how, when or where. I understand though he has the standard
suspension. It is some years since I have towed with a standard
suspension. I respect your comment and the decision to upgrade your
suspension.
It was the point by Redbakk that drew my attention.
If anyone was aware of towing problems with standard suspensions, I can respect confidence if I was to be informed by MM or email. The email is with the profile.

I have done 140,000 klm's towing 2.5t with the 3.2 diesel with no problems. Actually it is amazing what can be got out of a 4 cylinder.
