Well, the next time I see the Chev-Nissan it should be straight and about 500mm longer between the axles!

I've asked the bloke to cut and shut the chassis and do all the associated work like lengthening the tailshaft, brake lines, fuel lines etc.

Hopefully, this will mean the weight distribution will be more equitable. I'm planning to see if I can get a gap between the cab and the box, wide enough to be able to mount the spare tyres..... as they are a large part of the problem; 100kg hanging so far back can't be good for anything.

So, stay tuned for the updates and pics in due course (could be 6 weeks or more).

Get it right ?

This is the Roach-mobile Mk 11

Sounds like you have bitten the bullet, and go full steam ahead..

Good on Ya....

Go Bill....

Any tips how to stop this Patrol drinking so much diesel, even with a 3" exhaust and a Hi flow air filter...??????

And I do not need a brick under the right foot, as I hold accelerator steady.

Can I get the Turbo to kick in at about 1,750-1,800 revs, and not at 2,300
100 km/hr is 2,200,, no good to me

Once the turbo kicks in she flies, but I don't like telling "Mr Plod", that I was speeding just to get the turbo whistling...
Me thinks he will not accept that one.

I suppose a trip to Mr Dyno will help ... !!

Say hi to Annette, and the rest of the crew

Cheers Mate

Bucky

Thanks John,

I think I'm gunna end up with a rig that vaguely resembles Ron Moon's.

Ron Moon's stretched patrol

I'm guessing Lyn and Al don't get on EO much these days as i sent them a MM a week or so ago and haven't had a response. Al is probably too busy to take on my job anyway plus there is the distance factor etc.

Anyway, this Adelaide bloke seems to know his stuff.....place was full of patrols and cruisers with chassis issues.

Hi Roachie,

I only got Sorry I didn't respoind earlier, and your right, Al is flat out at the moment and he's not too keen on chasis extensions, he's done them, but he's not one to recommend them.
yr MM tonight, and only coz Kev sent me an email alerting me to it. If you want us it's easier and quicker to email coz I don't get on here very much because of full time Uni.

Not sure why, you'd have to ask him :)

Its pretty ridiculous when you say this guys shop is full of nissans and yotas, in this day and age these trucks shouldnt be failing like this, its not like theyre being jumped or anything.

I expected more from these trucks and i've got a b loody nissan.

Good luck with it, hope its bullet proof when theyre done with it.

If you dont mind me asking how much for the stretch?

Cheers, Wayne

Hi Nutta,

Some just like the longer rigs. I saw a 3lt common rail Nissan dual cab cut and legthened the other day and these things have only been around 6 months or so.

Cheers, Trevor.

As a Landy owner and been smothered in insults over the said vehicle, The 130 inch wheelbase models that have been out for yonks!! was a great design in its day especially in tray back form, the weight is distribuated very well." UP the Landrovers"...Hahahaha., Hope all works out.

Cheers Axle.

Mate, I actually love the idea of a 130 myself....it's just the lack of cubes, the poor driving position and the rampant electrical and mechanical faults (that I've heard of....no first hand knowledge), that I don't particularly like.

I know the prime reason for this is to repair that heap of chit once and for all, however could you please explain to us out here in 'reality land' as to what you have in mind to reduce your GVM by 2tonnes to get it all legal.

OR! are you planning on unveiling a 'six wheeler' when its all finished.

Roachie,

Not sure I've paid anyone to work on the car and been as satisfied with the work as what I was with chassis tech. Took some time but perfect job.
