G'day
Are there any Subaru owners who would like to join a
Canning Stock Route trip in May 2009? If so please reply with your email address and I'll get back to you as it will be best to discuss this off-
forum.
No responses needed from Soobie knockers thanks! ;-)

Many Subaru's have completed the CSR without an issue. They are lighweight and have a good power to weight ratio.

I do not own a " Soobi "....
But I have driven them and they are an amazing little vehicle....
Ride hieght is the only thing that will stop them.
Then again you can get lift kits for them
No body should knock them..

Yep...that little soobi did conquer some great stuff that time and impressed me!
Id just be worried about the size of the fuel
tank and km range....Id look at what other sooby csr'ers have done....

Fuel being sorted at the moment and getting LOTS of great help from previous CSR Soobies.
In the past I've owned three LandCruisers and a Hilux, saw the light and upgraded as I didn't have the attitude that seems to be part of the macho brigade.

Yeah we may be interested.
The Subi is a real pleasure to drive compared to the 80 series we had, there is just no comparison when it comes to grip and handling on the road - yeah off road I can certainly feel the limited
suspension travel of the subi though. And I am really glad that traction control can be switched off - it's certainly not beneficial when the road is soft and muddy!
It's a long way away put keep us informed anyway: ducktape00 @ yahoo . com . au
Depeding on our set up by then (selling camper trailer at the moment) we may need to take Hubby's ute as
well just to take all our gear, and I guess it would then serve
well as a recovery vehicle :P
Our Subi is only a few months old, but our road is 5k's of dirt so it's certainly never clean and shiny for long. Haven't gone to a bull bar / nudge bar as they seem to look hideous. I did put an air compressor in the back though, and I know our 60L engel fits nicely (not much else would though).

"No responses needed from Soobie knockers thanks" "No body should knock them"
Why are Subaru's so special no one can't point out their limitations? We do it with every other brand on ExOz don't we :-))
Having taken Subaru's to
Cape York & up tracks like
Billy Goat Bluff I can say from experience they are a hard vehicle to stop. (until the rocks get too big) What makes them so successful is their power to weight, something which on the Canning wont be in their favour after they're loaded up. We had one in our group literally bend in half to the point the back doors had trouble closing with a total collapse of the
suspension. I would have had little hesitation driving my old Subie up the Canning with several fuel dumps or with a back up vehicle to share the weight but probably not carrying the full load. I look forward to some reports of the trip next year & wish your group
well.
Is this a Subaru Club trip?
Cheers Craig.......
