I seem to have a flat spot when pressing the accelerator, right off the mark. A few mm's of free play before the power comes on. Is this normal? it doesn't feel right.

Being an auto it seems to effect power 'on' and gear changes when rounding corners etc because it feels like I need to push down a little further on the accelerator than I should to get any power.

Is there any adjustment?

Cheers

Andrew

Have that problem in the oldies disco, my partner (mechanic) told me it was an electronic accelerator and the lag was due to "processing" so to speak.

not sure if that helps but may give you a lead

Andrew,

Mine has a little bit of nothing at the start also, just the way the fly by wire system is. afaik they are not adjustable but thats not to say there may be and adjustment. i took one of the return springs off the pedal and it makes it seem like it has been reduced somewhat.much more pleasant to drive as it is now alot easier to depress. cheers Paul

Hey TD100

I had a look at my accelerator and can only see one 'larger' spring on it.

There is another smaller spring attached to a cable heading vertically upward but that one seems to have a purpose..although I don't know what.

I thought these machines were 'fly by wire' but there's a few cables attached under there??? weird.

anyway, my setup appears to have one major spring attached to the 'shaft' of the accelerator assembly. I can't see any other to remove!

any clues????

cheers

Andrew,

yeh leave the mouse track spring in and flick off one half of the double ended spring behind the pedal arm, i think i peeled the bottom one off and it just sits behind the arm.works a treat. cheers Paul

Turbo lag

That's why Dtronics etc ... sell so well - they reduce the lag and increase performance.

Try a different brand of diesel. I had the same in mine (manual though) and it annoyed me to no end as I couldnt get the clutch/accelerator coordination correct. At that time I was using Shell diesel.

After some months I tried Caltex and the difference was substantial. Straight off the mark it now has no hesitation and Caltex is all I will run in it.

This is in QLD so may be different in WA - when I was in SA for some time I found Caltex to be pretty average. Dunno, weird.
