I looked at the site. Full cover anywhere in Australia. Does that mean they will retrieve your car from anywhere?

I use DGA as well, under writer is CGU.
My excess is $250
Covered everywhere in OZ.
Mod's ok.
I have agreed value for 65k and premium was aprox $800.
Have had to make a couple of claims over the years and had no hassle.
Cheers Lyndon

I posted this on another forum about insurance.
this is rom the product disclosre of RAC insurance. i waas verbally told my 4by is covered anywhere in australia regardless of any road /track it may/may not be on.
at the end of the day the product disclosre will tell you all you need to know about your insurance

Been some discussion about where a 4by is covered. at the end of the day what someone on the phone or over the counter tells you is worth jack.
so here is in writing where your 4wd may not be covered as stated in the RAC product disclosure
- While your vehicle is being used in or in prep for a comp (abbreviated)
- When your vehicle is loaded contrary to the law
- If your vehicle is unroadwiorthy with a mod that you know of (abbreviated)
- Occurs outside australia
- mods thathat they havnt agreed to (abbreviated)
- While it is being driven in a manor which resulted in exposiure to exeptional danger or any will full reckless act (un abbreviated and very important)
- while the vehicle is being used for unlawfull purposes (also unabreviated and possible important if you are in an area it is illegal to be in)

no mention of roads tracks beaches etc
and these things work by if it isnt included then its excluded

I am with DGA. Policy reads ok but as I have not had a claim I can't vouch for how they treat anyone who has had a claim.

Also note the usual exclusions that may apply if you make a claim;

Was the driver under the age of 25

Was the driver impaired with alcohol or drugs

Did the driver have your permission to drive the vehicle

The insurance question often comes up in the forum and as Davoe said insurance companies need to disclose all in their Product Disclosure Statement.

They key thing about Comprehensive Insurance is that if it isn’t excluded than it is included. The onus is on them to tell you what they won't cover.

I'm sure if they can wriggle out of a payout they will - but they're on a winner anyway as most 4x4 insurance policies are taken out by owners who use them as the school bus and are in little danger of being irretrievably bogged or damaged. This probably explains, to a degree, why they appear fairly relaxed about the issue.
