Hi all, just have this rather unusual question regarding a leaking inlinometer in my 1985 Pajero NC. This leak has been happening for a long period of time now and I've decided to drain the damn thing completely and leave it empty. If it's going to function correctly or not, I don't really care. But I was wanting to know if anyone else has had this problem and what is the actual fluid? I e-mailed Mitsubishi and they didn't know what it could be, or if it's toxic or not. It doesn't have a 'pleasant' smell especially having it all over the dash. It seemed to leak only when I had the heater going, as it's cold down here in Taswegia!

Any info appreciated.

It is possibly Glycerine. This is used a lot in npressure guages in the ag industry have this to reduce sudden fluctuations in pressure guages

Hi Mudripper.
Richmond Tweed Instruments (Geoff Wright 0755206509) does a great job in replacing the liquid in pajero inclinometer.
Cheers.

my brother had same problem with his inclinometer, 1984 paj,and they wanted some astronomical price to replace it so he left it as it was, after that it used to spin around a bit on its own

It's probably not want you want to hear but my advice would be to remove it completely and replace with a digital cylinder head gauge. It may just save you a lot of money one day :-))

I replaced the fluid in mine with Paraffin and it worked fine. I found that it was leaking from the backing plate which i think has flex in it to allow for expansion/contraction. Seal that and it should be sweet.
