No Chance of disowning him, I look at it that he has added some thing to the Patrol that Nissan couldn't. A power increase with reliability to boot. Just wondering how long it will be before his son does the same thing....LOL Regards Steve M

Maybe he figured that putting the Yota Mota in a patrol would let it perform to it's best? In a real truck!

Must say Notso, you have me there. I have always said he would have the best of both worlds. Reliability, power and the right vehicle suspension wise/driveline will make it a great off roader and for touring. Though I must say the 80 series turbo cruiser Sahara series two auto would be up there with it LOL. Regards Steve M

Yeah, when I was a kid, well I still am really, me and a few mates wanted to put a ford Geabox and driveline into a holden body with a Valiant slant 6 motor. We reckoned it was the ideal vehicle.

I do appreciate your unswerving support of this project. It means a lot to me, as does the 99% positive reply's I have received from this forum.

Only one guy has posted a negative reply and I suspect he is a ZD30 owner in denial, and resents me posting anything negative about the ZD30.

But come to think about it I have NEVER been negative about the ZD30, just a bit disappointed.

It did give me 183000KM of excellent service & great performance, but I did always suspect that this day would come.

A forum gathering is on the cards when I have got TONI home and am confident about it.

Thanks guys, Colin.

Sorry Col & the other guys I wasn't on line last night.

The project is still under way, as Stefan said it's slow but precise.
No one hurries Jason Dymock, those that know him will attest to that.

We seem to be nearer to the end now, just the muffler system plumbing has a few bugs to iron out, as does the gear selectors etc.

The wiring guy is happy with that side of things and has a few hours work left to do.

I will post a final report as soon as I can.

It's still all systems go.
Colin.

Look forward to hearing how it ends up Colin.

Must be getting excited as it gets closer.

Maybe, when it's all sorted, you could post a drive day as a members gathering, then a good few of us could have a proper look at it.

Come on Colin, I know you are getting sick of it. Well, the offer is still there to buy it, but only as a favour for a fellow ExplorOzer.

Matt (the generous one).

Are you telling me he wants to put a Toyota 6 cylinder engine into a Patrol..?? You gotta be kidding.! Surely something for the mental institution.! Changing the engine won't make it a Toyota and if he feels that strongly about the need for that sort of change he should buy a whole new/different vehicle.!

God Blimey..! Me heard it all.! Is is name Heath Shaw or Alan Didak..?

I'm sane and I got a certificate from the hospital to prove it, have you???? LOL.

I don't want to make it a Tojo, I just want a capable and reliable vehicle, and the engine and chassis mix are IMHO perfect, and cheaper than buying another car that would even begin come close to it in ability and reliability.

Cheers Colin

Colin, Gotta say I admire people who don't care for the norm. Well done. So you prefer the Patrol over a Cruiser for example but reckon the Toyota's engine is more reliable than a Nissan six etc.? I wasn't aware the Nissan bigger engines weren't reliable, unlike some of the 3.0 litre diesel engines etc.?

Make sure you post the pics when you have finished and report honestly on the hurdles and unexpected cost increases, as there will be..! LOL

Toyota have the best turbo diesel motors, and Nissans have the best car, the GU which is a reproduction of an 80, with a stronger front diff and a handbrake that actually works....if i had the option of buying this finished product or a 6.5 turbo version, the Nismota...no, that wont work....Toyssan......would get my vote, they rev to 4150rpm and are direct injected multivalve 12l/100....
Would i actually do this??? No...id buy an 80...but where do u find one i ask, with a multivalve motor....there is one that i know of for sale...and it comes with a bad handbrake and a weak front diff....
Colin, dont bother wiring up the glow screen, its not needed....you wont believe how you can touch the key and it will be running....before it turns one revolution
