Recently I posted that I was getting extractors fitted to my 4Runner. A few guys said it would make an improvement and some said it wouldn't do much at all.
Well I had it done yesterday and the difference was immediately noticeable. For instance, I live on a street with a steep
hill. Normally I'm in 3rd and about 50kph up the
hill. Now it's 4th and 60+ kph. I went for a blast and the acceleration is better and smoother.
Later I will replace the rest of the stock system with a 2 1/4" system with a sports muffler.
Thanks to everyone that gave me advice either way.

Good work ,Louie, I reckon my old 2.4 was 10% better on power & fuel, but I did put the full back system on. Easier cold starting
without all that shaking as
well........oldbaz.

Excellent, I was hoping for that sort of response from someone with a non-turbo, going to be my last engine related mod. for my 3.0D lux.

Hi Louie, glad you had them fitted up. As I said before you would notice the difference mainly up
hill, just that bit more pulling power. Over all top speed will be buggar all. I think you will notice a tad more as
well once you have the rest of the system done. My'n was 2 1/2 inch all the way through. The standard Toyota exhaust is very restricted in my opinion. Glad to hear your happy with it. Just dont go down the turbo path as your reliability will go out the window. Your probably like most of us, mmmm how else can I get a few more herbs out the old girl LOL. Regards Steve M

I actually got them off Ebay. 140 bills delivered to my door from Dapto NSW. They seem pretty good quality and fit
well.
The seller's ID is headers2007

make sure you put a thru-flo muffler on when you do the upgrade. I did extractors and muffler on the 2.4D 4 Runner 6 years ago. Got a good 10-15 % extra power but the fuel consumption remained the same at about 10 lt/100k's city, highway (under 100K's) and most 4x4 high range situations...Glad it worked for you
See Ya

I've got a couple of new 2 1/2" mufflers here that were left over from a hipo 302 windsor buildup . Was going to put twin system on then went for roadster headers so now surplus to my needs, or so I thought..

In fact, my daughter took the car yesterday to the exhaust place. She picked it up after school and commented to me that it went "faster". Hmmm. Anyway, I drove the 5.7L Adventra to work yesterday and when I got home I took the tojo for a blast out the back of where we live. I noticed the difference straight away. It accelerated significantly quicker on a flat road as
well as its
hill climbing ability.
