I have a 11/2006 D4D (75,000kms) which has had a fuel vapour lock problem. It would only fill the first 90-100 litres then blow air bubbles out the filler. Eventually found the problem to be the breather valve which is located between the two tanks. It is above the rear diff on the underside of the floor pan in
the arch. You can see a ‘Y’
junction, one to each
tank and the other to a small black cylinder. This cylinder has a directional arrow and can easily be removed from the black housing. Cleaned it out and gave it a blow with some compressed air. All good as new.
Other symptoms of this valve being blocked include the motor stalling upon start-up after about 10 seconds. Then crank it hard to get it to start. The second start runs forever. The problem appeared after doing at least 100kms or more of travel.
Sorry didn’t take any photo’s.
