It has only taken 9 weeks from when I ordered the Stratos seat to get it fitted. Stratos originally told me it would be a 2 week lead time for delivery.

I have had a few enquiries about how well it would fit etc so I have taken a few photos.

The first one shows the seat mounting system from the side. It uses the original seat mounts. The seating position is now slightly higher than the original Toyota seat.

This photo shows the space under the seat from the front. There is slightly more room available when compared to the amount of space available from the standard seat.

The suspension system for the Stratos seat includes a fixed angle support/ weight adjuster behind the backrest. When the backrest is adjusted to suit my seating position there is quite a gap as the support angle is fixed.

This photo shows the rear leg room for the 2nd row of seats. I have found that with the original seat I had to have the seat fully retracted to get comfortable. But with the new seat I have to have the seat about 150mm further forward to be able to fully depress the clutch etc. I think this is due to the slightly higher seating position and better side and lumber support offered by the Stratos seat.

The seat also came with air lumber support, that is fully adjustable.

I gave the seat a 300km + test run today as I had a public holiday for the show and the seat is fantastic. I spent a fair while trying different adjustments with the weight and air lumber controls.

All I need now is to find a suitable set of seat covers for it before the kids cover it in crap LOL

Cheers Kev

Glad to hear you have at last got it Kev. The Pics & descriptions are great & by the sounds of your comments you are pretty happy with it. Nothing worse than driving if you are not comfortable, so lets hope it continues meets all your expectations. Cheers.

I take it that the price included engineering approval?
If it didn't then it should other wise you may have insurance/rego problems down the track.

Yes Darkie now has his first mod plate.
I am now trying to find out if the original drivers seat will fit to the passenger side so I can make him a 5 seater and build a custom centre console. I know the back rest adjuster will be on the wrong side.

Cheers Kev

The Pyrenees is going to be the test run if I can find a co driver for the trip as Sam and the kids don't want to do 4000 + ks in less than 9 days :)

I had the same model seat fitted in the F250 a while back. I started out with a very soft setting and found that on anything other than a very smooth road the seat bounced up and down so much that it was next to impossible to maintain a constant pressure on the throttle, and as for off road... I now have the seat on the firmest setting and all is OK. As for support, there cannot be too many seats in which you can sit all day and get out without any aches and pains. The Stratos is great.

Bruce,

I have used them before in borrowed vehicles so I knew how to set the settings up. I just need to remember to increase the setting when I venture off road.

Hey Kev,
Good arent they!!! MSA(formally Michelles sac's) do a cover for them. Also the mob that advertise on here rhino I think do a cover. Let us know how you go with a cover. Was thinking about getting some for mine. You wont know yourself now. It is so good being able to drive for longer than half an hour!!! Enjoy.

You will never drive Darkie, cause I know how badly you drive Landcruisers (as does you parents and their garage hehehehe)

My garage is a full width panel but a new front RHS panel for Darkie wouldn't go astray:) Although the excess for Darkie is more than that alone :(
