Can you elaborate on your question?
I can't quite determine the connection between "Streetview" and GPS.

Thanks
A GPS will let me know what position I am on the earths surface in real time. I can then relate that information to a map so I can compare my position to other features / landmarks and find my way around easily.
Google Streetview can let me know what a particular position on a street looked like when the picture was taken. Not in real time. If I connected it to a Bgan or somehow had internet access on the road (which would cost losts of money) I would still only get pictures that I could see out of the window anyway.
I did have a look yesterday at my house and my work and got bored with it about a minute later.
I'm still not sure what you mean by a GPS doing the same job, buts thanks for trying to answer.

Darrell
Google Street View is for streets
GPS is for anywhere.
See if your Google Street View will take you to the Geographical Centre of the
Simpson Desert. It won't. But your GPS will.
Hope this is clear now
Cheers
